Here at Free Charity Wills (through Matthews Legal Solicitors), we believe legal services can be made accessible to everyone. Many people fear that making a Will is going to be complicated and costly (not true); so their deferred option is to do nothing! Inaction is not a good decision, either for you or your loved ones. We believe in ‘giving something back’ and this is why Matthews Legal has teamed up with Cancer Research UK and other charities to offer free straightforward Wills for all our clients. Most charities offer free Wills for over 55’s, but Cancer Research UK makes the service available for everybody over the age of 18.

So how does it work?

It is hoped (but not obligatory) that you will leave the charity a gift in your Will. This can be anything; including a specific sum of money, a percentage share of the estate, donations made at your funeral or any asset of value.

It costs the charity around £150 by way of their costs for making each Will. It is therefore most helpful if the gift you make exceeds the cost incurred by the charity. By gifting a percentage share of the estate, your gift is protected against inflation and maintains a meaningful value to the charity.
